Cheadle Hulme United Reformed Church

General Policies

The Elders of this church endeavour to comply with the law in all aspects and where the law may not necessarily apply we will always endeavour to follow guidance and/or best practice.

For some areas of our work we have specific written policies and for other areas we follow the written policies of the parent United Reformed Church in England and Wales, variously published.

We are aware that in addition to many specific laws, guidances and good practices we also have a duty of care to all.  In pursuit of this we maintain and inspect our buildings and installations on a regular basis and review policies and actions periodically.

Furthermore, the Elders and other officers will pursue training, certificates and licenses seen as necessary to fulfil our roles and obligations, including insurances and copyrights.

We have generated a General Risk Assessment document which is reviewed appropriately and now includes provision for civil emergency issues (eg pandemics).  This document is widely distributed to provide a basis for all actors and actions on (and sometimes off) the premises.

As and when new issues arise, we will consider and respond to them and introduce them into our system of policies and Risk Assessment.

Here we have a number of policies adopted by Elders to guide and shape our corporate life.  Collectively and separately they set out our normal intentions and responses under different foreseeable circumstances.
